The Government of Canada is going to implement a digital services tax and wants to hear your feedback on how this should be done. In the 2021 Budget, the government announced that it will work to ensure that digital corporations pay their fair share of taxes on the money they earn by doing business in Canada. Details about this proposal are available in the Budget 2021 Annex 7 entitled Consultations on Other Tax Measures: Supplementary Information.
Through this consultation, the government wants to hear from interested stakeholders including affected businesses, tax practitioners, civil society groups and members of the public. The consultation process is open until June 18th, 2021.
